Designed from a clean sheet, the new Wavetrac Differential brings current gear technology to the market. Internally, its gear tooth forms are optimized for strength and improved oil film retention over competitive designs. Our gear package is smaller, reducing overall mass, yet more durable. Attention was also paid to the side gear/axle interface, putting as much material thickness as possible in this critical area - most important when power levels get high.
Wavetrac differentials are state-of-the-art helical gear differentials designed, developed, and manufactured in the USA by Autotech Driveline. The Wavetrac Differential is the only torque biasing differential on the market with patented technology that mitigates wheelspin when an unloaded wheel condition arises. During zero axle load conditions, the Wavetrac cam device acts to create internal load, maintaining drive on the gripping wheel instead of acting like an open diff (and going nowhere!).
Each Wavetrac Differential is crafted from the highest quality materials available. The internal gears are made from high strength 9310 alloy steel. The diff bodies are machined from case-hardened steel billet. To complete the package, every Wavetrac differential is built exclusively using high quality, high strength fasteners from ARP, the world leader in fasteners.
All Wavetrac differentials include a transferable, Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Unit price perSome BMW models have the factory ring gear welded to the factory differential (aka center section). This kit includes labor to machine the ring gear and an ARP ring gear bolt kit. Your stock rear end would need to be sent to us for machining service. Please drain the gear oil and remove drive flanges before shipping. Once the ring gear is machined we install the Wavetrac differential (sold separately) into the rear end with proper backlash specifications.
Lead time for machining service 4 weeks.

Using ARP's superlative bolt kit as the basis, we have sourced the necessary end cover gasket, carrier bearings, speedometer drive gear and o-rings from Volkswagen required for a successful installation. Save time and money!
